Protect24 have begun work retrofitting sprinklers designed to protect residents in a Greater Manchester tower block.
More than 1,200 people will be offered protection by the innovative retrofitted fire protection system designed by Protect24.
The system will include fire sprinklers installed to communal areas and in every room of every resident’s apartment at the development in Eccles.
City West Housing Trust turned to Protect24 in a bid to provide protection for residents in the wake of concerns raised by the Grenfell Tower tragedy.
Protect24 Mark Lyons, said: “We are excited to begin work at City West. They are leading the way in providing fire protection systems for their residents.
“City West are a fantastically forward-thinking organisation and it is no surprise to us that they wanted to be seen to be leading the way.
“They truly care about their health and safety and welfare of their residents and clearly recognise the importance and benefit of the Protect24 protection system,”
Protect24 were appointed by City West, part of the ForViva Group, to retrofit sprinkler systems to 12 multi-storey social housing residencies in Eccles.
ForViva has embarked on a £5 million programme to retrofit sprinklers to 17 blocks across the North West as part of new fire safety plans.
Protect24 designed a bespoke fire protection plan for the City West developments, which includes a full Type 4 Fire Risk Assessment and the installation of emergency fireboxes.
Residents were consulted and given the opportunity to’ Meet The Contractor Day’ ahead of the build in a bid to satisfy any concerns.
Phase one of the installation is scheduled to be completed by April 4th, and with five more phases scheduled to follow to complete protection of the 12 tower blocks.
